Political Action Committee

Mission

The mission of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce’s Business Advocacy and Political Action Committee (BACPAC) is to enhance the implementation of Chamber public policy priorities through political involvement. The BAC is bipartisan, supporting both Democrats and Republicans whose stance on the issues align with the Chamber’s legislative agenda.

Candidate Selection Process

The Indy Chamber’s BAC takes a proactive approach to political involvement by implementing a formal candidate selection process including:

1. The Chamber's BAC team compiles a list after the candidate filing deadlines.
2. The Chamber interviews candidates prior to endorsement.
3. Endorsements are determined based on alignment with the Chamber’s legislative agenda.
4. If there is no history of Business Advocacy support, or a candidate’s alignment with chamber policy is in question, a candidate interview is recommended.
5. After reviewing candidates, the BAC board convenes to discuss and approve the candidate endorsements.
